We are a women-owned minority business. We know how women have to work extra hard, having to juggle work, household, and in many cases, a marriage and children. Thinking about our fellow female entrepreneurs, we felt compelled to create an eBook to help minority-owned small businesses get certified through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The eBook brings information about how to apply and who is eligible.
“The BMW Supplier Diversity Conference inspired us to compile the information listed in the SBA.gov website and create this eBook. When we realized that BMW was promoting one of the largest supplier diversity events in the U.S right here in Greenville, we saw an opportunity to support other minority-owned businesses in our community by creating this material”, said Clarissa Gainey, Creative Director and Founder of Bright. The BMW event will happen on September 2nd.
Although we use the term “small business”, these businesses have considerable participation in the U.S. economy. In 2019, approximately 18.3% (1.0 million) of all U.S. businesses were minority-owned and about 19.9% (1.1 million) of all businesses were owned by women, according to the Annual Business Survey (ABS).
